On Our travels With Darcy's Postcard Challenge - India

I have chosen to depict the art of Mehandi on my postcard. This is the application of Henna as a decoration to the hands and sometimes the feet. It is used in India for special occasions such as a wedding or a Muslim or Hindu festival.  The stamps are from the company "Avec" and the background is coloured using Pan Pastels. The postcard back sees the three friends finally travelling together.
My page pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and the pocket shows  dancing in India.

Dragon's Dream TIO challenge #121 - Alice and The Rabbit Situation

My situation is the "Tea Party", Alice watches while the Rabbit and the Mad Hatter teapot the poor dormouse! Think I am on a bit of a black and white roll at the minute with tags. The background picture is an original drawing from the book which is on MCS "An Important Date" and I added a butterfly border with stamps from Hero Arts. The main stamp is from The Artistic Stamper. I added a tiny bit of blue Promarker to the three main characters.

CD Sunday Challenge - A is for ....

My A is for Africa. The stamps are from Clarity and the background paper is from Katy Sue "Wishing on a Star". These backgrounds feel like a bit of a cheat but sometimes they are just what I need.

Crafty Ann's Challenge #70 - An Easel Card

I have made a twisted easel card using a paper from Crafty Ann's lovely Cream Dream kit. The Hibiscus is also one of Ann's digis which I colored with Promarkers and added some black glitter as the centres.

On Our Travels with Darcy's Postcard Challenge - Ireland

My cute little Irish dancer is a digi stamp from Mo's digital pencil. I coloured her using Promarkers and added a "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" greeting.
My book page ia a selection of pages and photos from a travel journal I made following a holiday in Ireland in 2001. The cottage we stayed in was in Co Claire and we traveled round Galway  and The Burren. Such wonderful scenery and the music in the pubs was great. Happy Memories.

Dragon's dream TIO #120 - Considering Steampunk

Inspiration came from the photo from a book called "Victorians on the Thames" . I sprayed the background with Mister Heuy's colour mister and stamped the collage which is  from Andy Skinner. The rocket is a stamp from Kanban as is the angel wing, which is stamped and embossed on acetate.

CD Sunday Challenge - Pearls and Swirls

Have had this stamp a little while but not found the right project for it but pearls seemed just right. The stamp is "Cecillia" from Chapel Road Art Stamps. The paper is from the Artylicious CD "Filigree Fusion" I added some black pearls to her necklace and on to the ribbon.

On Our Travels With Darcy's Postcard Challenge - Germany

I lived in Germany, in Dusseldorf for a year and Dusseldorf is our twin town here in Reading. As a gift the people of Dusseldorf gave us a statue to echo the famous Cartwheeling Boys statue that stands in Dusseldorf. I have used the original to do my postcard and included a picture of our wall artwork on my page.
Just back from holiday so a little later than usual this week. Jen x

Crafty Ann's Challenge # 69 - Paper Piecing

I have used Crafty Ann's "Tempting Turquoise" kit once more. It is such a lovely colour. I cut hexagons from five of the papers and pieced them to create the card background. I used a section of one of the papers to create a topper which I placed in the frame adding a butterfly. I added a sentiment and flower to a hexagon to complete the card.
Do take a look at Crafty Ann's challenge blog  here and let us see your creations for this challenge.

On Our Travels With Darcy's Postcard Challenge - Isle Of Man

From where I lived in Whitehaven we could look across to the Isle of Man so for my page I choose the view we had but slightly closer. I included the coat of arms of the parliament there and the Laxey wheel  a site I visited on my only holiday there when I was 16! Of course I had to pay homage to the TT race so my pocket is a picture celebrating the centenary in 2007.
My postcard is of a Celtic Cross as these are found all over the island. It is a stamp I borrowed out of my daughter's collection but I do not know who made it. The border is from Tandy stamps. I stamped both  in Versamark ink and coloured with Pan Pastels.
Hard to believe we have made it to half way, go here if you would like to see the other postcards and travel tales.
